Can Verdal
Formerly owned by Joan Serra de Can Verdal, who sold Miramar to the Archduke. It later passed to the Planes family when the heiress, Margalida Serra i Morei, married Miquel Planes i Poquet. It was in this house that the Archduke Luis Salvador, in 1872, bought the possession and the monastery of Miramar, owned by Joan Serra. The building was completely remodelled at the end of the 20th century and converted into a municipal social centre. On its façade we can see a plaque that remembers all the day labourers who, in this square, came to hire themselves every day to go to work in Marjal.

It was raining and she was playing with her biggest doll. When she felt a galley stop in the street. She approached the doorway and saw two men getting off. The young man approached the horse and spoiled him a little in the rain. They entered the house and shook off their soaked capes; they looked like two dressed peasants. One of them had fallen in love with Miramar. The girl from Miramar. By Rafel Socias i Company (1946-2022); agricultural engineer, poet, columnist in Sa Plaça and writer.
