Casa Consistorial
This building was formerly known as "Sa Quartera". It was designed by Joan Sureda i Villalonga and was originally intended to be the town hall. Work began in 1812 and the master stonemason Feliu Ballester completed it in 1823, although the official inauguration dates from 26th July 1822.
In the centre of the façade are three semicircular arches with sandstone voussoirs and pilasters. Since then, it has become the town's main political and administrative space. Between 1987 and 1990, the building was renovated by glazing the arches on the ground floor to give light to the vestibule. Until the 1930s, the "saig" (guard) lived there with his family.
