Antiga casa consistorial

Between the 14th century and 1823 the old town hall, the Sala, curia or court, prison and saig (guard) house were located in what is now the Pericàs chemist's shop and the Can Segura jewellers' shop, which then formed a single house. In 1809 the roof collapsed, and in 1811 the jurors decided, with good reason, to build a new building. As they did not have any land, they decided that the best place was the public square in front of the old house of the Sala. On 5 August 1820, the auction for the new town hall was published. Later, and almost at the beginning of the 20th century, the old "town house" saw the opening of the doors of the first Fonda Europa and a tavern.

Local authors. History and literature:
Yehuda Arieh worked like a beast in Auschwitz driven by a strong will to survive. Despite seeing every day how his brothers in captivity surrendered to an implacable fate, he was still driven by the idea that his God, however, would not let him die.

The Rabbi's Ashes. By Miquel Segura i Aguiló (b. 1945); writer, journalist, jeweller.

...I remember so many anecdotes from the get-togethers at the pharmacy. Almost every evening, in addition to Guillem Torres, Guillem Llompart, Alex, Toni Franch, Salvador Vidal, Tòfol and Tomeu Siquier and others that I regret in my soul I cannot remember, would appear in the back room, with responsible punctuality.

Bartomeu Pericàs. Five men from the village. Co-author: Andreu Aguiló.
