Cas notari Torres

Location of the old wine cellar belonging to Mr. Rafael's family. It is still preserved on the ground floor of the house. Ancestral home of the Torres family. The sons of the Torres notary were doctors, canons, lawyers, judges and mayors. On the façade, there is a plaque commemorating Joan Torres Gost (1901-1979), favourite son of Sa Pobla in 1982 and director of the infectious diseases hospital in Madrid. Joan's father, Guillem Torres, played a key role in the months of the 1918 Influenza.

The dean of the Seu, Bartomeu Torres i Gost, published in 1971 one of the works that has studied the figure and work of Miquel Costa i Llobera the most in depth: Itinerario espiritual de un poeta (The Spiritual Itinerary of a Poet). We can read: In judging Costa's work, despite the fact that it refers to years very distant from each other, the idea of sanctity arises spontaneously.... Apart from the desired holiness, he does not forget the land and the homeland: O you who one day enter the temple, I do not ask for me even a memory, but ah! engrave: the name of our homeland.
